Events
CALSS holds its annual meeting in September and board
meetings in January and May of each year at various locations
throughout the state. Educational seminars are offered in connection
with each board meeting. Additional seminars are offered periodically
between board meetings. See below for information about currently
scheduled CALSS-sponsored activities.
Many affiliated local chapters also offer educational
opportunities.

CALSS Meetings
CALSS traditionally holds four meetings a year -- the
Annual Meeting and Educational Conference (held in September each year)
includes both the Annual Meeting and the First Board Meeting; the Second
Board Meeting is held in January or February; and the Third Board Meeting
in May. These meetings are held in various locations throughout
the state. Recent board meetings
have been held in Breckenridge (May
2006) and Longmont (January 2006);
and recent annual meetings have been held in Fort Collins (Tenth Annual
Meeting, September 2006) and Colorado Springs (Ninth Annual Meeting,
September 2005). At least one-half day of legal education
is offered in connection with each meeting.

Recent Meetings:
The second educational seminar and board meeting was held in Golden,
Colorado on February 19-20, 2010. The educational seminars were "Music
Piracy: A Review of the Recording Industry's File-Sharing Litigation" by
Andrew Mohraz, Esq., Holme Roberts & Owen LLP and "Issues Involving the
Unauthorized Practice of Law" by James C. Coyle, Esq.
The third educational seminar and board meeting was
held in Silverthorne, Colorado on May 15-16, 2010. The educational
seminars were "Email Etiquette and Educating Clients About E-Discovery"
by James Crane, Esq., CEO of Doc1 Solutions, L.L.C. and "Creating a
records Policy in a Legal Environment" by Mr. Doug Rollo, National
Director of Records Management for Document Technologies, Inc.
The CALSS Fourteenth Annual Meeting and Educational Conference was held in
Denver, Colorado on September 18, 2010. The educational
seminars were "Appellate
Litigation" by Troy R. Rackman, Esq. of McConnell Fleichner
Houghtaling & Craigmile, LLC and "The Fine Line Between Legitimate
Support Staff Activities and the Unauthorized Pratice of Law" by
April M. McMurrey, Esq. of the Colorado Supreme Court Office of Attorney
Regulation Counsel.
A CLE & Coffee was held in Frederick, Colorado on
November 6, 2010. The CLE's were "DUI Court" by Mag.
Matthew Zehe, 8th Judicial District and "Family Drug Court" by
Mag. Kent Spangler, 8th Judicial District
The CALSS
second educational seminar and
board meeting was held in Longmont, Colorado on February 5, 2011. The
educational seminars were "Outlook Tips & Tricks"
and "I Didn’t Know My Computer Could Do That!" and were
presented by Ms. Reba Nance, Director of Law Practice
Management and Risk Management, of the Colorado Bar Association.
The CALSS third board educational
seminar and board meeting was held in Silverthorne,
Colorado. The educational seminars were: "Medical Marijuana
Rules and Regulations" by
Dan Hartman, Director of the Enforcement Division, Colorado Department of
Revenue and "Using Social Media and Traps for the Unwary" by
Laurie Rust, Esq., of Holme Roberts & Owens LLP.
The CALSS
Fourteenth Annual Meeting and Educational Conference
was held in Loveland, Colorado on September
16-17, 2011. The educational seminars were: "Missing
Persons Abroad" by
Paul Sacco, Esq. and "Can You Hear Me Now? The Impact of Powerful
Communication Skills" by A.M. Dominquez, Esq.

The CALSS second
educational seminars and board meeting was held in Denver, Colorado on
January 27-28, 2012. The educational seminars were: Estate
Planning for Seniors: presented by Casey Williams, Esq. of
Glatstein & O’Brien; Preventing Elder Abuse: presented by
Barbara Martine-Worley of the Denver District Attorney’s Office; and A
representative from the Office of the Child’s Representative will give a
presentation on how the Colorado judicial branch strives to protect
the very youngest members of society: our children.
