CALSS holds its annual meeting in September and board meetings in January  and May of each year at various locations throughout the state.  Educational seminars are offered in connection with each board meeting.  Additional seminars are offered periodically between board meetings.  See below for information about currently scheduled CALSS-sponsored activities.

CALSS Meetings

CALSS traditionally holds four meetings a year -- the Annual Meeting and Educational Conference (held in September each year) includes both the Annual Meeting and the First Board Meeting; the Second Board Meeting is held in January or February; and the Third Board Meeting in May.  These meetings are held in various locations throughout the state.  Recent board meetings have been held in Breckenridge (May 2006) and Longmont (January 2006); and recent annual meetings have been held in Fort Collins (Tenth Annual Meeting, September 2006) and Colorado Springs (Ninth Annual Meeting, September 2005).  At least one-half day of legal education is offered in connection with each meeting.

Recent Meetings:

    The CALSS Eleventh Annual Meeting and Educational Conference was held in Grand Junction on September 21 and 22, 2007.  Fort Collins on September 15 and 16, 2006.  Seminars included "Statewide Consumer Judicial Surveys: You Be The Judge," presented by Sandra Casselberry, Clerk of the Court, 21st Judicial District; "Immigration: Current Concerns,"  presented by Gordon Smith, Mesa County Sheriff's Department; and "Bankruptcy: Financial Lows On The Rise," presented by Phillip J. Jones, of Williams, Turner & Holmes, P.C.

    The 2006-2007 Third Board Meeting was held in Breckenridge, Colorado, May 4 and 5, 2007.  The Friday afternoon seminar, "Your Personality Style, Leadership and Organizations, or, Just Because I'm an Extrovert, Do I Always Have To Organize the Office Birthday Parties?" was presented by Nancy Henjum, MSW, International Executive Coach and Organizational Consultant. 

    The 2006-2007 Second Board Meeting was held in Sterling, Colorado, February 2-3, 2007, with seminars on "Office Etiquette 202," presented by CALSS member Cathy Hansen, PLS; and "Estate Planning, Wills, and Related Matters," presented by Sterling attorney Mark Earnhart. 

    The 2007-2008 Second Board Meeting was hosted by the Longmont Association of Legal Support Staff on February 8-9, 2008, at the Radisson Hotel & Conference Center in Longmont, Colorado, with seminars on  "Behind the Scenes at the Boulder Court," and "Creating More Balance in our Lives," by Dale Falini

    The 2007-2008 Third Board Meeting was held at the Holiday Inn in Frisco, Colorado, on May 30-31, 2008.  Educational seminars were on Friday, May 30th will be Policing and Protecting Copyrights on the Internet by Tim Reynolds of Holme Roberts & Owen and Immigration 101 by Phil Alterman of Stern, Elkind, Curray and Alterman.  Saturday, May 31st, began with the annual Nature Trek; proceeds from the nature walk are used for the Gwen Duran Scholarship Fund. 

Upcoming Meetings:

    The CALSS Twelfth Annual Meeting will be hosted by Mile High Association of Legal Support Staff at the Boulder Broker Inn, in Boulder, Colorado on September 12-13, 2008.  The educational seminars will be "Employee Issues in Today's Workplace" presented by Jean Farrington, HR Generalist for Waste Management and "Where Are They Now? Finding People Who Don't Want To Be" presented by Ryan Ross, Private Investigator.  Hotel Reservations are due by August 25, 2008.  Hotel phone number is 800-338-5407, mention CALSS when making reservations; room rate is $89 plus tax for 2 beds, 1-4 persons per room.  Registration fee for CALSS members is $50.00; fee for non-CALSS members is $100.00 for all activities or $25/seminar.  Please see registration form for additional information.

CALSS Seminars

Throughout the year CALSS sponsors seminars at various locations throughout the state.  Recent seminars have included a Notary Law seminar in Grand Junction, Colorado (March 2006) and an E-Filing seminar in Sterling, Colorado (April 2006).

These seminars are great opportunities to learn more about CALSS and earn some CLE credits at an affordable cost!

The most recent seminar was Tuesday, April 24, 2007,  in Colorado Springs.  The topic was "News You Can Use: Implementation of the Fourth Judicial District's New Commercial Docket," an overview, including qualified cases, placement procedures, applicable forms and important deadlines.
